You may have heard of kolaches. If you have, you know what’s up.

If you haven’t, get ready to try the yummiest, fluffiest, stuffed dough pastry.

A kolache is a unique pastry that has assorted fillings and flavors surrounded by a fluffy yeast dough. They originate from Central Europe and have strong Czech and Slovak roots before immigrants brought them to my home state of Texas and many other parts of the United States.

Here at Golden Kolache, and like many others before us, we also call our meat-filled pastries kolaches. When our ancestors first settled in Texas, they experimented with flavors and expanded on the the traditional sweet kolache. Sometimes called klobásnik, our savory kolaches are made with the same great dough as our sweet pastries but contain special pockets of savory flavor you just can’t find elsewhere.

Texans far from home will miss their trusty kolache shop, but fear not because Golden Kolache is here to share the kolache craze to the Pacific Northwest.
